Emory Mclaughlin is a studio woodturner.Emory has been woodturning since 1996. A full-time, stay-at-home father of two, Emory spends many hours in his studio, perfecting his woodturning skills. He has honed his skills through many hours of experimentation and with specialized instruction received at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, where he was awarded a scholarship in June 2000. He has traveled the country demonstrating his woodturning skills. Select pieces of his work were included in a display at Brigham Young Museum of Art (Summer 2004). The pieces from the show were published in the book, Beneath the Bark. Emory has several published articles in both American Woodturner and Woodturning Design magazines. He teaches regularly at Woodcraft in Jacksonville, Florida. He is also very active on the Yahoo Penturners group and in the Pen Makers Guild. Emory is very active in the Florida Art Show Circuit and participates locally in Jacksonville’s Monthly Art Walk. He also teaches sailing and is a past Commodore of the Rudder Club of Jacksonville |
